The backstory

Lamont Spence spent 13+ years as Workforce Development Director at Cooperative Home Care Associates (CHCA) in the Bronx — the worker-owned cooperative that founded PHI in 1991 and that researchers have pointed to for decades as a model for quality jobs in home care.

The outcomes were not accidents. They came from a method: consistent check-ins with trainees and caregivers, early detection of disengagement signals, bilingual delivery from day one, and a reporting cadence that matched what funders actually needed to see.

RetainReady takes that method and makes it available to every workforce development program that has to prove retention outcomes to a funder.

The parent company

RetainReady is operated by Spence Consultants, LLC, a Mount Vernon, NY-based consultancy focused on home care workforce development, compliance (HHATP, DOH, LHCSA), and grant strategy. The firm also operates consulting engagements with home care agencies, training schools, and workforce awardees across New York State.

Why now

The home care workforce shortage is no longer a forecast — it is a live, measurable gap in every state. Funders are tightening outcomes requirements. Awardees are being asked for data they do not have the infrastructure to collect. RetainReady exists to close that gap.
